BATTERY MEGASTORE (UK) LTD TO SHOWCASE LATEST FROM YUASA

FXHbatteriesSBattery Megastore (UK) Ltd is exhibiting at the forthcoming Data Centre Expo 2014 event (ExCeL, London, 8-9 October 2014) and will show the latest addition to Yuasa’s SWL family of industrial valve regulated lead-acid (VRLA) batteries, the new SWL4250 high capacity 12V model. The company will also show its new range of front terminal cells, the FXH range available in sizes from 45 to 200Ah and the EN & ENL ranges that are ideal for use in all standby applications including telecommunications, UPS and emergency lighting.

Ideal for use in uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and similar high discharge rate applications, the new SWL4250 delivers the same increased performance as other batteries in the SWL family. Typically, this provides up to 40% extra high-rate discharge capacity when compared with standard NPL series batteries.

The SWL4250 features a nominal 10hr rate capacity of 140Ah to 10.8V at 20°C with 10-min rate constant power of 4,250W to 9.6V at 20°C. Standby life expectancy is up to 10 years (design life at 20°C) and EUROBAT classification is high performance, 10 to 12 years.

The new SWL4250 features a UL94HB ABS case material as standard with flame retardant (FR) option available for UL94V0 applications. The battery can be installed and operated in any orientation except permanently inverted and complies with IEC61056 and IEC60896-21/22. Case dimensions are 341 x 173 x 281mm high with typical mass of 49kg.

Operating temperature ranges are -15 to +50°C (charging) and -20 to +60°C (discharging). Optimum storage temperature in fully charged condition is from -20 to +50°C. Additional specifications include low self-discharge characteristics during storage, maximum discharge current of 840A for 1s or 420A for 1min and impedance of 2.7mΩ measured at 1kHz.

The new SWL4250 battery extends Yuasa’s high discharge rate range that includes the SWL3800 12V model offering a nominal 10hr rate capacity of 124Ah and the SWL2500-6, a 6V battery with 10hr rate capacity of 180Ah (both to 10.8V at 20°C).

The company will also be showing its latest front terminal batteries that are designed for use in telecommunications, datacentre and UPS applications. The new FXH range is available in seven models with capacities of 45, 90, 100, 140, 180, 190 and 200Ah (8hr rate except 90, 100 and 200 models at 10hr rate). These valve regulated lead acid (VRLA) rechargeable batteries feature flame retardant ABS case material (UL94V0) and are suitable for operation over -15 to +50°C (discharging) and -15 to  +45°C (charging and storage).

The front terminal design of the FXH series makes it far easier for engineers to connect multiple batteries in power systems and also makes maintenance and replacement of batteries a simple operation. With terminals only at the front of a standby system, engineers can simply slide out and replace a cell without having to reach over multiple cells and connect top terminals.

Also on show will be examples of the company’s Endurance EN and ENL series batteries designed for use in all standby applications. These include the ENL100-12FT battery that features a 15 year design life and is designed from the ground up to fit into standard telecom equipment racks. Both terminals are at the front of the cell making it easier to connect batteries when situated in power cabinets. The battery shape differs from standard designs being longer and narrower so that just a single row of batteries is required in a telecoms rack.

Specifications include nominal voltage of 12V with nominal capacity of 100Ah at 20°C to 10.8V. Standby life expectancy is 15 years at 2.26V/cell float charge at 20°C.

Features include M6 female threaded stud terminal and UL94V0 flame retardant ABS case material (Oxygen index 30). Dimensions are 558 x 125 x 233mm (l x w x h) with mass of 41kg. The valve regulated lead-acid battery design enables its use in any orientation except permanently inverted. Like all other Endurance batteries, Yuasa’s new ENL100-12FT is fully compliant with IEC61056 and IEC60896-21/22.
